Jazz Band

The Jazz Band comprises a big, full-instrument band of approximately 25 students. The band performs literature representative of a wide variety of musical genres, including swing, Latin, rock, and funk, to name a few. Students are encouraged and coached in their abilities to improvise solos on their given instrument and function as a valued member within this selective, one-on-a-part ensemble setting. This ensemble performs at various jazz festivals, school events, and civic functions throughout the greater community each semester. PREREQUISITE:

An audition is required for placement in the Jazz Band. Auditions take place in May for the following school year and in January to fill any personnel vacancies. Students who play in the jazz ensembles must also participate in one of the zero-period concert bands.
